Inside the Vision: Gian Kash Breaks Down Levitate
In our first Such Is Life University music visual premiere, we had the honor to chat with the homie and fellow artist, Gian Kash to learn about his creative process and vision for "Levitate".
“My name is Gian Kash, an artist/producer from Lakeland, Fl. My goal as an artist is always to channel my experiences and emotions through the art.
When I wrote “Levitate” all I could think of was being alleviated and isolated from the pressures of the working world knowing that it’s not a forever feeling and staying optimistic.”
In an era where the art of the music visual often feels like an afterthought, Gian Kash is a breath of fresh air with his song Levitate—a stunningly simple yet captivating visual experience.
We chopped it up with Gian to get an inside look at his creative process and the vision behind his latest release.
Set against beautiful natural scenery to get lost in, Gian explains that he likes to incorporate contrast in his art.
“I’ve always liked to be different. I like to do the less obvious thing, choose the unexpected option.”
Gian made this statement when we were discussing how he chose his favorite teams, but as the conversation progressed, it was easy to see that this philosophy tends to be his approach in his art as well.
A lot of artists in the hip-hop space create visuals where they are rapping into the camera and call it a day. Though there is nothing objectively wrong with this, he steers away from that approach. Gian prefers a more immersive storytelling style—one that brings out the emotion he felt while creating the song rather than just highlighting the lyrics.
Originally, the concept for Levitate involved him painting in an outdoor setting, but nature had other plans. Adapting like any true creative, Gian pivoted, turning challenges into a visually compelling masterpiece.
From the first watch, the rich scenery, dynamic lighting, and impeccable color grading pull you in. But it’s the song’s flow, structure, and raw energy that make you stay. Levitate speaks to the universal creative struggle—the drive to make it, the moments of doubt, and the unshakable resolve to keep going.
