Such is Life University: The Movement
For creatives, by creatives. A glimpse into our journey of creating a space for us all.

Art and creativity are about more than self-expression—they’re about connection, exploration, and authenticity. Yet, the world often tries to box us in, forcing us into categories that don’t reflect who we truly are. For many, there’s a longing for something more—a space to create, share, and simply be.
Such Is Life University was born from that longing. It’s more than an outlet; it’s a home for all creatives, where art, music, and ideas intersect. It’s a place to slow down, dive deep, and reconnect—with ourselves and each other. Below, you’ll hear from SIL U founders, Lafayette and Sachi, as they share the heart of this movement.
Lafayette’s Insight:
Honestly, my initial vision for SIL U was for it to be primarily my personal music outlet. When Spotify took down the Such Is Life EP, I didn’t want any platform or anyone else to have control over my music. But after connecting with Sachi to talk through the concept, it quickly evolved into what it is today: an outlet not just for me, but for creatives like me and for creatives who are nothing like me. It’s for us.
I’m not always inspired to create music, but I’m always searching for inspiration—looking for things I can connect with on a deeper level than what’s on the surface. Not to get too “woke,” but I’m in a place where I’m intentionally consuming things that have a positive impact on me—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I’ve been doing the internal work so I can show up, day in and day out, for the people I love. To show up for y’all.
SIL U is my offering to a world that often feels overwhelming. A world that seems designed for 30-second snippets of digestible content. SIL U is different. It’s like an online coffee shop (and I don’t even like coffee, but roll with me here). It’s that place you go to with your people for deep, meaningful conversations, where you listen to chill music and simply enjoy the moment. This is the outlet where time slows down—a space where you can dive into the things that inspire you most.
There’s a question that’s been etched into both my and Sachi’s minds: “Who are you for you?” I don’t know the answer yet, but I’m loving the journey of discovering it. I’m doing the work. SIL U is part of that work—embracing the process and documenting every step along the way.
Sachi’s Insight:
As a creative, I’ve always struggled to find my artistic footing. While art is a universal language understood by many, it can often feel isolated and segmented. You’re expected to fit into one camp or another, but for someone like me, none of those places ever feels like home. I have diverse interests and skills—one day, I might resonate with one group, and the next, with another. That’s the beauty of art: its free-flowing nature, the capacity to connect, build, express, and simply be. To be whoever you want to be in that moment.
Unfortunately, we’ve allowed white-collar structures to dictate who we are and how we express ourselves. Society has convinced us that to be taken seriously, we must choose a “niche”—a singular focus, diminished to a piece neatly suited for the workplace, supposedly required to break into the big leagues and stand out in a crowd of other artists. We've succumbed to this ideology, and in doing so, we've lost sight of the most essential aspect of art: unapologetically honest self-expression. Art reflects who we are, what we believe, and how we see the world. That’s what makes it special. The goal should never be to appeal to the masses; the goal is to lead with authenticity and create from the heart. Those who resonate with that expression will find and support your work.
The real struggle for artists isn’t choosing the right niche—it’s finding the courage to share our work with the world. I get it. Being an artist requires vulnerability, and whether we like it or not, we’re exposed to criticism and opinions. Even though those criticisms often stem from the insecurities or projections of others, they can still sting.
What we need is a place to call home—a space where everyone is there for the same reason: to connect, share, support, and build something lasting. A place where artists can freely share their work, their thoughts, and their hearts, surrounded by a community that puts the artist first. Art makes the world go ‘round. Everything is art. We know it. We see it. We feel it. And if there’s one thing we’ll ensure, it’s to create a space where artists can unapologetically be artists.
Wrap up:
SIL U is more than a creative outlet—it’s a journey, a movement, and a question:
While the answer may not come easily, the process of discovery is what truly matters. This platform is a space to embrace that journey, celebrating the highs, navigating the lows, and capturing every moment in between. In a fast-paced, disconnected world, SIL U invites you to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what inspires you most. Together, we’re building something lasting—a home for creativity, connection, and unapologetic authenticity.
Welcome to Such Is Life University, where you can always come as you are.
