For Your Rotation! (March 6 2025)
Culture of the Day brings us "For Your Rotation", a series where they bring us into their world of what's in the current rotation, highlight new artists and to find some gems that you might've missed.
Sometimes, music can be hard to find on our own due to things such as work, family life, etc. taking up the majority of our time. Life gets in the way of things we may find fun, or things we want to pay more attention to. Honestly, it's something that happens to all of us at some point.
Artists put their blood, sweat, and tears into what they create, and sometimes the world does not reciprocate that level of appreciation for their dedication. For an artist, Music can be their full-time job, or even a second job that does not pay much.
I created this series to share some of what I’ve been listening to weekly and to help put the spotlight onto some artists you might not know. These are songs I have picked from my rotation lately, so maybe I can show you some gems!
For Your Rotation! (Mar. 6, 2025)
Joseph Chilliams & corylovesyou - SOFT SERVE
Released in 2023, this song has remained one of my favorites from Joseph Chilliams. His unique style has always been the thing that has gravitated me toward his music. Joseph Chilliams is unapologetically himself, and that’s what sets him apart from other artists.
Producers - Alé Araya, Luke Titus, & Berlo
Yoko Gold - Limbo
Released in 2023, this was the first song I have heard from Yoko Gold, and I've been hooked ever since! Whenever it comes on, I find myself replaying the song at least three times when it pops up. This song served as a single to his 2024 album Escape From Limbo (which is also a solid listen).
Producers - Luca “905LUCA” Polizzi, & CVRE
Britton Rauscher - DON’T GET TOO HIGH
Released in 2023, this is one of Britton Rauscher's smoothest songs. This song is from his 2023 album MR. EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME, and that album was one of my favorites that year. Honestly, this is a song I really enjoy listening to when I'm in a chill mood.
Grimm Lynn - Slow Jam
Released in 2022, this is a strong single from Grimm Lynn. I have been a fan of his since I heard his feature on Flwr Chyld’s 2019 song “Mellow Drama”. This song is part of his 2022 EP Sweet Heat (PLEASE give this EP a listen as well. You won’t regret it). If you love smooth R&B and slow jams, this song is one you need to check out!
Producers - Evan Nigel Berry, Louis Alexandre Hassell, & Roger David Habon
Bocha & Corey G - YDK
Released in 2022, this song is a solid collaboration between him and producer Corey G. Bocha is an artist I have kept up with since his 2021 collaboration album BUDS with himself, Corey G, and Donte Thomas (which gets a solid recommendation from me).One thing that keeps me intrigued is his mellow style, with the need to be aggressive on certain tracks.
Producer - Corey G
Amaria - Finer Things
Released in 2024, this was the first song I heard from Amaria, and this is exactly what I enjoy from R&B and Neo Soul! When this came across my radar, I had to add this to my playlists. Easily a solid track to listen to if you enjoy R&B and Neo Soul. This song is from her 2024 album Free Fallin’, and served as a single to the album.
Producers - choob, & Mosaic Sol
Outkast - The Rooster
Released in 2003, this is an absolute CLASSIC! Outkast has always been my favorite group/duo in Hip Hop, and their catalog speaks for itself. This song is from their 2003 album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (if you haven’t listened to this album, DO IT ASAP).
Producer - Carl Mo
Denzel Curry & That Mexican OT - BLACK FLAG FREESTYLE
Released in 2024, this song was one of the best releases last year. Denzel Curry always brings great energy, production, and bars to his songs, and That Mexican OT matched it perfectly here. This song is from Denzel Curry’s 2024 album King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2, which is a solid project!
Producers - Kill, & Payday
Aaron Rose - Switch Face
Released in 2019, this song was a stand out track from his 2019 album Rozart. I think Aaron Rose’s melodic style suits his production choice, even with the beat change within the song. This is a good recommendation if you like melodic rap with some bars mixed in.
Producer - Powers Pleasant
Ahmad Anonimis - Bed Bugs
Released in 2024, this is one of my favorite songs from Ahmad Anonimis. His style is truly unique, and I’m glad he sticks with it! This song is from his 2024 album Mnt. Snug (this a solid album to check out as well.) The production reminds me of KAYTRANADA, which makes me think Ahmad Anonimis would fit great on one of his songs!
Producer - Acxs
